SZL is a non-profit organization that has been conducting therapeutic and educational activities with the participation of animals in educational, medical and care facilities since 2008.
Our animals with guides work in places such as the Clinic for Children in Coma “Budzik”, Children’s Health Centre, Alzheimer’s Centre, the Mazowiecki Provincial Hospital of Drewnica (for patients with mental disorders) and others. Since 2010, SZL has been conducting training and courses in the AAI area, examining and testing human-dog teams, and since 2016 also introducing cats to work. In our work, we support ourselves with the experience of practitioners (dog and cat trainers) and the support of scientific experts from universities cooperating with SZL – Warsaw University of Life Sciences and the Polish Academy of Sciences.
Each year we manage several educational national projects and we also run international projects focused on development of eLearning materials for AAI practitioners. SZL started work in 2008 and has a great experience in different hospitals: Oncology Clinic for children, Rehabilitation ward for Children, Coma Clinic for Children and in the Psychiatric ward – both for children and adults. Main goal of our work is to provide emotional support for patients and the hospital staff. We conduct different types of dog assisted intervention, that makes patients feel better, motivates them to start the training/rehabilitation or continue the painful treatment.
Therapy with dogs, as the researches show, relieves pain and has effects on the neurological and endocrine systems – regulation of blood pressure / cardiovascular system. In 2019, the year before Covid, we conducted 330 hours of therapy in hospitals, 128 hours of support for elderly people, 70 hours of education for safety for children (how to understand dog’s behaviour) and trained 34 dogs
The Provincial Health Organisation of Ragusa performs the function of protection and promotion of health of individuals and the community, through activities of prevention, treatment of disease and recovery of health, consolidating the integration between territorial and hospital care, in order to maintain the highest possible level of quality of life of citizens of all municipalities of the Province. Among all departments and offices there are the Department of prevention and the Operational unit of continuous training which are those directly involved in this project for the specific competences needed.
The Prevention Department is the operational structure of the Organisation whose mission is to ensure the protection of collective health by pursuing the objectives of promotion and protection of health, The Operational Unit of Continuous training and updating of personnel, promotes specific initiatives aimed at training and enhancing professional skills, efficiency and productivity.
The Operational Unit of Continuous training and updating of personnel, promotes and implements specific initiatives aimed at training and updating of human resources as a method for the inclusion in organizational processes of newly hired staff, the development of professional quality, the constant improvement of efficiency and productivity levels, the enhancement of professional skills and attitudes, the strengthening of managerial culture of managers, in order to pursue the continuous improvement of services and expected results.
